The Hands-on Film workshop at LABO BxL offers participants an immersive three-day experience into the workings of a film lab. From the outset, the session provides an overview of lab operations, outlining the activities planned. The diverse group, primarily communicating in English but also using Dutch and French, showcases a wealth of professional film experience. Each participant learns to load a 16mm Bolex camera with PF2 film, engage in light metering, and apply strategies for proper exposure under low-light conditions. The workshop includes practical sessions on filming around the city, winding and developing film, and using projectors to evaluate the results. The workshop culminates in a screening and discussion of the films created.
